What I’ve been up to

So I haven’t posted, like, at all.

But that’s because I’ve been busy.

I’m in sixth year at school and I’ve got a lot going on. I’m studying two Advanced Highers (which roughly equate to English A-levels, but are studied over one year rather than two, and of academic level which is considered as demanding as first year of university) and two crash Highers. What was I thinking?! I’m doing AH English and Biology and Higher RMPS and Psychology. So I have a pretty full timetable! I’m also Head Boy which takes up a lot more of my time, but I’m incredibly honoured to be given such an opportunity. It does mean a lot of my free periods are eaten up by a lot of things that don’t involve me being free. But I do get a slick blazer and a shiny badge to adorn my lapel!

Right now I’m researching for my English dissertation and trying to come to some conclusion about what to write about. An analysis of John Donne’s employment of literary means to convey a picture of 17th century life? Or a comparative evaluation of the major works of the period’s most prolific writers?

I’m also trying to write about eight essays simultaneously and my creative juices are drained. So the thinking part of my brain (all of it?) has been squeezed dry and I cannot think of anything more to write. I don’t think I can even construct coherent, grammatically correct sentences that flow with a lyrical syntax any more.

This made me laugh, though:
